Sr. Principal Lead/Architect/Engineer – Workload Automation (IBM TWS/IWS)

Role Overview
Looking for a Lead Workload Automation Engineer/Architect to drive architecture, strategy, and operations for IBM Tivoli/IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS/IWS) across on-prem and cloud environments. Responsible for platform standards, modernization, reliability, security, and ensuring scalable scheduling services. Will also supervise two scheduling teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end TWS/IWS platform architecture, design standards, and integrations
  • Lead installations, upgrades, migrations, and define rollout/rollback strategies
  • Assess legacy schedulers and drive consolidation/migration roadmap
  • Ensure reliability: availability, capacity planning, tuning, monitoring
  • Design HA/DR solutions (DB2 HADR preferred) and lead DR testing
  • Define scheduling governance: job design, dependencies, SLAs/SLOs
  • Build automation using Shell/Python/Perl for operations and self-service
  • Manage security: LDAP/SSO, role-based access, compliance
  • Lead incident management, RCA, and problem resolution
  • Manage and mentor two teams; drive delivery and performance
  • Act as escalation point for critical incidents and outages
  • Provide global support across US/EMEA time zones

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years in workload automation; 7+ years in IBM TWS/IWS
  • Strong experience as Architect/Lead in enterprise platforms
  • Linux/Unix expertise and production troubleshooting
  • Scripting: Shell + Python/Perl
  • Experience in upgrades, migrations, and platform standardization
  • Strong ITSM/ITIL (Incident, Problem, Change) experience
  • Excellent stakeholder and cross-team coordination

Preferred Skills

  • DB2 (HADR), Oracle/Postgres
  • TWS APIs (REST/SOAP), event-based scheduling
  • TDWC (Tivoli Dynamic Workload Console)
  • SAP integrations, file transfer (SFTP/PGP)
  • Monitoring tools (Grafana, AppDynamics)
  • ServiceNow and ITSM tools
  • Cloud and automation concepts

Requirement Analysis Participate in requirement discussions with client stakeholders to define solution and implementation level needs basis the business requirements.

Designing Create solution architecture designs to meet cross-system interactions and business logic integration requirements, ensuring system cohesion across multiple applications.

Integration assessment and support Assess and evaluate interactions across multiple applications by evaluating implementation dependencies and integration requirements.

Troubleshooting Support validation of solution components during implementation and ensures the solution functions as designed.
