Job Description

Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to perform the development of VLSI system by defining the various functionalities, architecture, layout and implementation for a client

Responsibilities

1. Conceptualize, design, develop, validate, prototype and develop imaging and illumination optics systems and sub-components for headset products.
2. Establish and document optical engineering specifications, including key performance metrics and test requirements for optical systems and components, through rigorous tolerance analysis, assessing manufacturing capabilities and understanding customer-facing requirements.
3. Lead design validation, lab characterization and failure analysis of optical components and systems.
4. Drive the vendor for maturity in optical process, performance, yield, quality, reliability, and ramp new optical components and systems for full mass production readiness.
5. Contribute to the future optics technology roadmap.
6. Ability to operate in heavily cross functional and ambiguous work environments.


Qualifications

1. BS in the field of physics, engineering or other optics-related fields.
2. Experience in developing optical systems with multi-disciplinary teams.
3. Knowledge and experience with optics fundamentals including imaging, illumination, radiometry and colorimetry, physical and geometric optics.
4. Experience with hands-on test, prototype build, debugging, and calibration of optical system, equipment, and instrumentation.
5. Hands-on experienceusing optical instruments such as interferometer, spectrometer, scatterometer, lab microscope, Image Master type lens qualification tools , etc.
6. Experience with at least one optical CAD (eg: Zemax, CodeV for imaging system design/tolerancing) and experience with at least one non-sequential optical CAD (eg: Zemax, LightTools, Fred, ASAP).
7. Experience collaborating with internal cross-functional teams and external optics vendors.
