Job Description
We are seeking a senior U.S. Life & Annuity insurance leader to build and lead a pre-eminent U.S. Life & Annuity consolidation, administration and transformation business focused on closed and legacy insurance portfolios.
The leader will own the strategy, growth, P&L and client outcomes for a differentiated business spanning policy administration, customer servicing, operational management, platform modernization and technology-led transformation. A core expectation is to shape and execute the platform strategy, including the migration of eligible books to the Alpha platform.
This is a business-builder role requiring the breadth of a COO, President or Business Head, combined with deep insurance-domain, operational, commercial and transformation expertise.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business & P&L Leadership
- Own the strategy, growth and overall performance of the U.S. Life & Annuity closed-book business.
- Develop and execute the business plan across revenue, profitability, productivity, client outcomes and operational resilience.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to acquire, transition, consolidate and administer additional closed and legacy books.
- Build a scaled, differentiated and market-leading U.S. Life & Annuity consolidation, administration and transformation business.
2. Closed-Book & Insurance Operations
- Lead the end-to-end administration of closed and legacy Life & Annuity portfolios, with deep accountability for in-force policy servicing and policy administration.
- Oversee policy servicing, claims, billing, premium administration, customer service, correspondence and regulatory servicing.
- Ensure high levels of accuracy, customer experience, operational resilience, productivity and control.
͏
3. Client & Market Leadership
- Build trusted relationships with CEOs, COOs, CIOs and Heads of Operations and Transformation at U.S. insurance carriers.
- Act as a strategic advisor to carriers considering transfer, outsourcing, modernization, consolidation or administration of closed books.
- Develop a compelling market proposition, originate new opportunities and lead complex client discussions, transitions and commercial negotiations.
4. Platform Strategy & Transformation Leadership
- Define and lead the platform strategy for the business, including the migration and transformation of eligible legacy books onto the Alpha platform and associated modern technology environments.
- Drive modernization of legacy policy-administration platforms and operating models.
- Use automation, AI, analytics and digital capabilities to improve cost, quality, speed, control and customer experience.
- Establish scalable, technology-enabled operating models that support future closed-book acquisitions and consolidation.
5. Transition & Migration
- Lead complex transitions of insurance books from carriers to the organization.
- Oversee migration planning, data and policy conversion, reconciliation, testing, controls and go-live readiness.
- Ensure continuity of customer service and regulatory compliance throughout transition.
- Build repeatable transition methodologies that enable the business to scale.
͏
6. Regulatory, Risk & Controls
- Ensure the business operates effectively within the highly regulated U.S. insurance environment.
- Maintain strong governance, risk, compliance, audit and operational-control frameworks.
- Ensure policy administration and servicing remain compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit and client stakeholders.
7. People & Organization
- Build and lead a high-performing Life & Annuity leadership organization.
- Develop deep insurance-domain capability across operations, technology and transformation.
- Build a strong succession pipeline and attract senior insurance talent.
- Create a culture focused on customer outcomes, operational excellence, innovation and accountability.
͏
Ideal Candidate
- Significant senior leadership experience in the U.S. Life & Annuity insurance industry, ideally as a CEO, President, COO, Business Head, EVP or equivalent.
- Direct experience with closed blocks, legacy portfolios, run-off books or in-force Life & Annuity administration.
- Experience managing large-scale insurance operations and complex organizations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. insurance regulation and operational controls.
- Experience with policy-administration platforms, legacy modernization, platform strategy and/or platform migration.
- Proven experience leading large transformation or transition programs.
- Strong commercial orientation and ownership of revenue, profitability or P&L.
- Credibility to engage C-suite executives of major U.S. insurers.
- Strong understanding of how AI, automation, analytics and digital technologies can transform insurance administration.
- Experience managing large transitions or outsourcing / managed-services relationships is highly advantageous.
͏
Preferred Background
- U.S. Life & Annuity carriers
- Retirement and pension businesses
- Insurance administrators / TPAs
- Insurance technology and platform businesses
- Insurance services organizations
- Consulting or transformation organizations with significant Life & Annuity operations
Leadership Profile
We are looking for a business builder, not simply an operations leader. The successful candidate will connect:
Insurance Domain + Closed Books + Policy Administration + Client Relationships + Operations + Platform Strategy + Transformation + AI + Regulation + P&L
The leader should be capable of sitting across the table from the CEO or COO of a major U.S. insurer and articulating how transferring, consolidating and modernizing a closed book can create better customer outcomes, stronger controls, lower cost and a more sustainable operating model.
