Role Summary
We are looking for a Mainframe Developer with strong Credit Cards domain experience to design, develop, and support mission‑critical credit card processing applications. The role involves working on high‑volume batch and online mainframe systems supporting the end‑to‑end credit card lifecycle, ensuring stability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Mainframe Development – Credit Card Systems
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications supporting credit card issuing platforms.
- Work across card lifecycle modules, including:
- Account setup & card origination
- Authorization & transaction processing
- Billing, statements, interest & fees
- Payments, collections, disputes & chargebacks
- Develop and enhance batch and online (CICS) programs for large‑scale transaction processing.
Technical Responsibilities
- Hands‑on development using:
- COBOL / COBOL II
- JCL
- CICS
- DB2
- VSAM (KSDS / ESDS)
- Handle job scheduling, restarts, abend resolution, and performance tuning.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents and implement permanent fixes.
Integration & Platform Support
- Support integrations with:
- Card networks (Visa / Mastercard)
- Fraud & risk systems
- Core banking and downstream systems
- Implement scheme‑mandated and regulatory changes impacting card processing flows.
- Participate in platform upgrades, enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
Testing & Production Support
- Support unit testing, system testing, UAT, and production releases.
- Provide L2 / L3 production support for card applications.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
Required Skills & Experience
Must Have
- 6–10+ years of hands‑on Mainframe development experience
- Strong experience in Credit Cards domain (issuer side preferred)
- Expertise in:
- COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM
- Batch & online transaction processing
- Experience working in high‑volume, mission‑critical banking systems
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills

- Authorization, clearing & settlement
- Billing cycles, interest, fees, payments
- Disputes & chargebacks
- Regulatory and card‑scheme driven changes
Good to Have
- Experience with card processing platforms (issuer or processor‑hosted)
- Exposure to mainframe coexistence / modernization programs
- Knowledge of Agile delivery models
- Experience working with global banking clients
Tools & Environment
- z/OS Mainframe
- Scheduling tools (e.g., CA‑7 / Control‑M)
- Change & release management tools
- Incident management tools
Experience: 5-8 Years .
The expected compensation for this role ranges from CAD 77000 to CAD 120000 .
